New Classes for November 2009
How to Increase Tips – This is a short, four hour class that is jammed full of information to make a waitress or waiter aware of all the different selling techniques to boost their tips, from 15 to 20 percent or more! Learn from professional wait staff techniques for making your customers happier, your tips bigger, and your job more fun.
Retail Up-Sell for the Holidays – A four hour course designed with the approaching holidays in mind. Learn techniques to INCREASE SALES…AND your bottom line, including: up sell, how to stock, and swap out displays to keep customers coming back. Perfect for all Retail Employees.
Intro to Culinary Arts – A four hour class with hands on training in the kitchen. Learn proper knife skills, safety, and creativity. Perfect for all kitchen staff.
Hospitality 101 & Specialized Skills Development Courses
To Be Offered, starting March 2010
Hospitality 101 is the first course in this series. We highly recommend you take it first, but it is not a pre-requisite for our specialized classes. This course is designed for all employees in the hospitality industry. It is a three part course – Hospitality 101-A is a 4 hour class that gives you all the basics of great customer service and ADA information; Hospitality 101-B is a 4 hour class continuing with more customer service skills and conflict communication skills; Hospitality 101-C is a 4 hour class that is similar to a concierge class – what there is to see and do along America’s Wild Rivers Coast, so that you will learn how to answer the important question – “What is there to do around here?”
Restaurant Server – During this course, you will take dining to a new level. You will learn both front of the house skills as well as some useful back of the house skills. We will practice the art of up selling and walk through the entire dining process. The second day you will learn table setting and wine knowledge. (2 Day Class – requires Restaurant A & Restaurant B; usually held on two consecutive Mondays.)
Housekeeping – In this training you will learn how to keep yourself safe and healthy. This training will take place at a hotel where you will learn tips from a pro on how to make beds, clean effectively and efficiently and pass your inspections with flying colors. (This class can be conducted in one 8 hour day or 2 consecutive mornings or afternoons – Housekeeping A & Housekeeping B.)
CARE – Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively is everyone’s responsibility. Learn the basic laws of alcohol beverage service and how you can prevent lawsuits and unnecessary accidents. Use techniques to cut off service and still provide exceptional customer care. (This class can be conducted in one 8 hour day or 2 consecutive mornings or afternoons.)
Retail Representative – Everyone can ring up items, but in this case you will learn the art of selling. Learn how to set up displays that will entice buyers and push sales. You will get to practice how to satisfy a guest even in moments that could have resulted in a lost customer. (This is a one day, 8 hour class with morning class presentation and an afternoon field trip to local retailers.)
Front Desk Representative – During your job, you are a jack-of-all-trades. You become the front person for you property and are the first impression in the eyes of your guests. Learn how to up sell, check in guests, work with guests that may be intoxicated and how to handle emergency situations all at the same time. (Class is one 8 hour day – usually held on a Sunday.)
Prep Cook – As you start your career in the kitchen, the prep cook will learn the safety aspects of working in a commercial kitchen. It will also provide you with all the information about all the sanitizing chemicals and how to use them properly. (A four hour class.)
Serv-Safe Essentials – This is a class that is certified by the Department of Health in California and teaches all the aspects of safe food handling as required by law. Passing the exam insures you of a 5 year certification.
